In week one, I defined technology as
"the administration of scientific knowledge and using it for societies
daily needs. Technology seems to usually be in the form of equipment or
machinery and helps to enhance human capabilities that may be limited"
(Belsha1). To build off of my original definition, I would now describe
technology as the use of scientific methods that are able to be used for
practical purposes and to help support human capabilities (in a more quicker
and effective way). I also would say that technology is a necessary tool in
making daily tasks in life more simplified and easier to get done. Technology
is an effective method for getting jobs done efficiently and in a proficient
way. For instance, the use of typing notes in class on Microsoft Word is much
more faster, than having to hand-write all my notes. Also, Microsoft Word (and
computers in general) both make writing essays, papers, and even creating
projects an easier task to get done. Can you imagine having to use a
typewriter, a typing machine created by Christopher Latham Sholes in 1873, or
handwriting all your papers? (ehow.com). I sure can’t imagine a life
without the use of a computer! Think how hard it would be to have to start all
your papers over again, repetitiously, each time you make a mistake or even have
to erase all your errors, repeatedly having to re-write the paper until all revisions
have vanished. Life would definitely be much harder if we did not have the
accommodations of technology. A final thought about technology is how easy it
is to save and store information, as well. It is much easier to lose something
done on a loose-leaf paper, opposed to being stored on a computer. It is so
simple to retrieve information by the click of a couple tools on a computer
screen.
